We use the Pond Dye to help control filamentous algae in our 3 retention ponds. So far, since using it, we are not seeing as much algae bloom.
The recommendation states that the colored water doesn't allow enough sunlight to reach the algae and therefore inhibits blooming; that appears to be the case.
We will continue to apply the dye for the rest of the summer.
Does what it says August 9, 2009 nircee (Resaca, GA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted my swimming pond to have a blue color to it. My grandchildren were skittish about swimming in it. No problem after we colored the water. When I first added this product it really was blue. Now that about a month has passed the water is light green. I will probably buy again.

I added this product to my pond about a week ago. Their only directions are based on adding the product to 1 acre of surface water that is 4-6' deep. I wasn't sure on the exact dimensions of my pond, so I added a little at a time. The quart goes fast, and before I knew it I emptied the entire thing. A few hours later the color worked it's way thru all the water and the water had a deep blue / aqua color. I'm hoping it will dilute over time and have a more natural look.
